Children

Most reference to theater for children, with few exceptions, comes from the curriculum of language arts, where the items are removed to be of interest to teachers and being careful to explain that the presentation is accompanied by a guide teaching, that adults do not have the impression that sending children to the theater is a waste of time if not used as a teaching tool, this way presentations are made “captive audience”, terrible name that defines who have to go to the theater by a note or task, often without care for the quality of the show to present or getting the sale of the functions through payment of “commissions” to teachers, thus denying the children the right to the aesthetic enjoyment, knowledge of other options to enjoy your time, cultural diversity and development of human sensibility that we need. Although El Salvador participates in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, have done little to ensure state and society as contemplated in Article 31 of that document: “respect and promote the right of children to participate fully in cultural and artistic life and promote opportunities to participate in cultural, artistic, recreational and leisure “have done little media to support Article 17:” disseminate information and material of social and cultural benefit to the child “rather than merely teaching. On countless occasions has spoken by the society and institutions, social disintegration in our country, has heard countless times by theater people, about the lack of audiences for theater. Rarely, society, theater and institutions have paid attention to our children receive quality theater, for aesthetic enjoyment, for development of sensitivity and for the formation of a taste for the stage to achieve the generational change that hopefully also in the theaters. Reflecting on this I can not leave out that this installation was carried out with our trainees and young people between 15 and 23 years, with whom the assembly also became a dialogue between generations, trying to always respect their views and proposals, although not always coincide with mine, sometimes it was difficult and exasperating, sometimes wonderful and unexpected, but always interesting, and in this area of dialogue and mutual respect we get to what I always dream that is the theater of the Tiete: a sum of our dreams, realities, languages and theatrical discovery, a story to tell to someone who is willing to listen, in this journey is soon to arrival in port, we always on the generosity of the artists who contributed their talents to help us navigate, now opens the curtain and if adults leave children to the theater, will be magic.
